Dr. Nandor Ludvig is an Associate Professor of Neurology at NYU School of Medicine and NYU Langone Medical Center. His primary responsibility is the development of an effective treatment for drug-resistant and surgically untreatable neocortical epilepsies. His treatment uses his patented medical device, which is implanted in the subdural space over the neocortical seizure focus of foci and delivers antiepileptic drugs directly into the diseased tissue. Dr. Ludvig received his M.D. from the University of Pecs Medical School, Hungary, and his Ph.D from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His postdoctoral training included several years of research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, University of California, and University of Illinois. His main prior academic appointment was Research Associate Professorship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Ludvig has published 45 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 book chapters in the fields of epilepsy research and cognitive neuroscience and has been an invited speaker at several internation meetings. In his career, he received six grants from the National Institutes of Health and two from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Nandor Ludvig served as a member of the Editorial Board of Brain Research Protocols and is a two-time recipient of the Deans Award for Extramural Excellence at NYU School of Medicine. His research is presently funded by the Epilepsy Research Foundation.
