Dr. Chong is a neurologist, board certified in the subspecialties of clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine. He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He completed his bachelor's degree which focused on neurobiology, then a Master's degree in Brain and Behavior. His medical degree was completed at the University of Calgary and he was a resident and chief resident in neurology at the University of Western Ontario. He then spent 2 years training on clinical neurophysiology (EEG, evoked potentials), sleep medicine and the clinical and surgical approaches to epilepsy at Columbia University Medical Center and then spent 6 years as faculty as an Assistant Professor. He became the Director of Clinical Trials, the outpatient seizure clinic and the program in EEG monitoring in the intensive care setting. He joined the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in 2012. He has been awarded with the Epilepsy Foundation of America research & training fellowship, and on two occasions with the American Epilepsy Society/ Milken Family Foundation he received an Early Career Clinician Scientist award to fund his research projects.
